Rose production was already very low during the last few weeks, but it appears to be going even lower at the moment. All wedding colors including white, peach, blush, cream, (light) pink, and coral are in very short supply. Only reds, some orange varieties, and “assorted color” boxes remain on the “easy to get” list.
The typical rose production cycle is already very low currently, which is the first reason why this situation of limited supply arises. We also have the increased demand, which has been higher because of wedding season. Additionally, many farms are changing out their varieties, which is putting further pressure on daily production numbers! Call it a “perfect rose storm,” if you will.
The weather has been stable, so at least that has not been an added challenge. We expect a more significant production increase in about 3-4 weeks. In the meantime, we will continue to keep you informed as to what’s going on here in Ecuador.
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend, while remembering the country’s fallen armed forces!
